5 Budget Friendly Decor Tips To Make Your Home Look More Expensive

5 budget friendly decor tips to make your home look more expensive
Before I start I must say these tips are not all dollar store ideas but for the transformation they give they are much much more affordable than going to some top-of-the-line Home Decor Store and renovating the interior of your home.
Tip 1: Go to antique markets and look for beautiful picture frames
I think a great way to save money and create a home that has more character is to find an art print that you like at a local art store or You could even blow-up pictures of you and your family and get a frame with character. I love getting nice frames at the antique market near me. They are intricate and nicely made and I often pay less than $35 for them. This trick will make it look like you spent hundreds on a piece when you really spent under $50.
Tip 2: Get real greenery for your home
I know some of us don't have green thumbs and since I worked in a greenhouse for years, I try to remember how frustrated people who kills plants consistently feel.... but the great news is that there are plants for my plant murderers out there. I love my sister dearly, but she has killed most of the plants I have ever given her, and I had a crazy number of plants when I was in my early 20's (about 85 in total), and over the years she has almost no plants left except a few. The snake plant is amazing and needs little to no attention and is my favorite to recommend to others that struggle with their plants. Most cacti also did well in her care and the peperomia which is beautiful and a succulent like plant that grows pretty quickly.
Here are some quick tips:
Pots that drain are better than ones that don't. If you do get a pot that doesn't drain, then make sure that plant fully dries out.
Buy Fertilizer droplets that you can mix in your watering can
Don't put plants touching the window if you live somewhere where there are cold winters and you have no intention of keeping your home above 67 degrees.
You need to water indoor plants less than you think (for the most part at least).
Tip 3: Organize, organize, organize!
A messy home usually says that someone doesn't value their home too much and guess what if you don't value your home then neither is anyone else. I know we don't all have time to reorganize every aspect of our home but at least keep the places where people can see and visit frequently nice and tidy.
Some great organizers are as simple as tubs you buy off Amazon or under the sink organizers so that you can maximize space in your bathroom and kitchen. A good jewelry box and makeup organizer is amazing for making a room look more put together.
Tip 4: Invest in some nicer linen curtains
This may seem random but my grandmother who was an interior designer for quite some time always loved her curtains and now that I have bought a decent pair for my apartment, I can say that it really elevates a space. I bought mine from Quince for $100. They are not the most expensive curtain out their, but they are not the cheap ones that just look inexpensive. Mid-range curtains when they are good quality bring your room up 3 notches on the elegant scale.
Tip 5: Get Intentional Knickknacks
This seems simple but it is important. To be intentional with your knickknack I suggest creating a board on Pinterest of rooms you are inspired by and want yours to resemble. Then you look at the knickknacks you currently have and weed out any that do not go with the new vibe. Less is more here! If you need a few new one start with a vase, a statue or a nice book. Antique stores are great for these kinds of pieces!
